Well, it has been a minute, but all it better now than ever. I
officially made the move from UF to UNF. I am running track at UNF,
and I have to honestly say it is the happiest I have ever been. I was
nervous at first about coming into a D1 program having been away from
competitive running for the better part of two years, but I have picked up
right where I left off; actually better. I have already exceeded
all of my high school best times with only a few weeks of training. I
am indescribably excited about what this means for me and what my running
future holds. Coach VanAlstyne has confidence in me that I haven't
felt since Coach Dearing or Coach Zubero, and this has to be absolutely the
most inspirational thing I have felt in two years. It is truly amazing
how fast life can turn around, and I give thanks to God for everything.
I am elated to be back on the right track, and I cannot wait to explore my
running potential. As far as injuries go...the hip was hurting way
back when. Well, that led to a knee pain, presumably along the same
ITB band. That led to compensation and moved down to my ankle.
As soon ass that started to resolve itself, my Achilles started acting up.
This injury can't move down any farther, I feel like it has to have breathed
its last, and hopefully that is the case. The bottom line, though, is
that since the hip started healing, I have really only had a handful of days
interrupted by pain, which I consider spectacular in view of how far I have
come in the last few months. Speaking of which, I miss all my
Gainesville people so much!
Godspeed,
